Six wild card games are played: three in the AFC and three in the NFC, with the No. 2 seed hosting the No. 7, the No. 3 hosting the No. 6 and the No. 4 hosting the No. 5. Which teams fill those seeds is decided in the final week of the regular season, so the matchups, the day each game lands on and the kickoff times are all to be announced.

MLB’s wild card round is scheduled as a three-day window with no travel day, because the higher seed hosts every game. Three of the four 2026 series were sweeps, so only one Game 3 was needed. Results are on the 2026 MLB Wild Card Series.
